Sheamus is a former four times WWE world champion and he is working in the promotion for nearly 15 years. But wrestling Legend Vince Russo recently made a controversial remark when he said that the 45 year old professional wrestler should not work in WWE anymore.

As soon as Sheamus joined the main roster back in 2009, he was started to be treated as a main event star. It did not even take 1 year before he won the WWE World Championship by defeating the Mighty John Cena. Over the years he won a total of four World Championships in WWE. He also accomplished other big things in WWE like the Royal Rumble match and Money in the Bank.

But over the years he lost his main event post and at this moment he is mostly being treated as a lower mid card. A lot of fans and critics believe that he deserves better treatment. Vince Russo is one of those names who wanted Sheamus to leave WWE. Speaking on The Wrestling Outlaws podcast he said;

“Bro, I’ll be honest with you. As a writer, sometimes you get a feeling like a character has run its course.” Said Russo, “Let’s relate this to professional sports. How many times a player that was once a great player is now in a rut, and the player gets traded because he needs a change of scenery? You hear that all the time.

Vince Russo Thinks Sheamus Should Leave WWE

“Bro, I’ll be honest with you. I think the guy has run his course. Does he get a change of scenery with AEW or some new organization? Absolutely, 100%. Now he’s got new players on the team; you could book him fresh.

“But I just think, to me, he’s in this category. Bro, these guys have run their course. There’s nothing more you could do with these guys. I don’t think the most creative mind could. They have been there forever. They have run their course.”

A lot of fans might argue that Sheamus is losing his push because of his age. But wrestlers like Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar are getting main event pushes in spite they are elder than him. He could at least have a decent mid card run. But he is definitely not a jobber, neither is he a lower mid card.
