Roman Reigns is holding the WWE Universal Heavyweight championship for nearly three years and he is the most dominant World Champion in WWE. He is the first wrestler in WWE in 36 long years to have 1000 day title reign. The last wrestler to hold a WWE World title for more than 1000 days was Hulk Hogan and that is back in 1987.

Some of the biggest names in WWE have challenged Roman Reigns for his title over the years, but Roman has managed to beat all of them and keep retaining his championship for nearly three years. Brock Lesnar and Edge are some of the biggest names among these challengers who challenged him multiple Times.

The Road to WrestleMania 40: Roman Reigns’ Massive Plan Potentially Revealed

But is his epic Championship reign coming to an end at SummerSlam? At Money in the Bank PLE that took place recently, Roman got pinned for the first time in three and a half years, and the one to pin him is none other than his own cousin Jey Uso. The whole world was left spellbound after this huge upset.

Jey Uso is heavily rumoured to challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam which is the upcoming WWE PLE event. Since he is the only wrestler to pin Roman after he won the Universal title, he is a huge favourite to finally dethrone The Head of the Table.

Roman Reigns Might Walk In As Champion At WrestleMania 40

However, rumours suggest that Roman is not going to drop the championship any time soon, in fact, he is also rumoured to walk into WrestleMania 40 as the WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion without dropping the title. Reports from WrestlingBlog recently claimed;

“It was also mentioned that Reigns is is most likely not dropping the title this year, the current plan is for Roman reign walking into wrestlemania 40 as champion” the account wrote on their Twitter claiming that The Head of the Table would enter WrestleMania 40 as the Champion.

There are also heavy rumours that ‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes would challenge Roman for the WWE Universal Heavyweight title at WrestleMania 40. Cody challenged Roman at WrestleMania 39 for the title as well but he lost. Reports suggest that he would be coming to take his revenge at WrestleMania 40 and this would be their first rematch.
