Gautam Gambhir is in contact with his former Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a possible return back home to the team he led for 7 years and won two IPL titles with, reports suggested.
Gambhir was bought by the KKR franchise in IPL 2011 auction for $2.4 million and one year later, he led the team to their maiden IPL title win, defeating Chennai Super Kings in the final. Then in IPL 2014, KKR repeated the feat by defeating King XI Punjab in the finals to become only the second team at that time to win the IPL tournament more than once.
Gambhir is the all-time leading run-scorer of the Kolkata Knight Riders (3375). He led Kolkata Knight Riders to the playoffs in the 2016 and 2017 seasons and was also the highest run-scorer.
However, the two sides parted ways in 2018 as Gambhir wanted to return to his home franchise of Delhi to finish his IPL career.

Currently, Gautam Gambhir is the mentor and director of cricket for the Lucknow Super Giants cricketing group.
KKR wants Gautam Gambhir to come back home- Reports
As the mentor of the LSG franchise, Gambhir has led the team to the playoffs in two seasons thus far. However, a report from Dainik Jagran has suggested that Gautam Gambhir is in contact with his old franchise KKR for a possible return to the camp.

The report came out after Cricbuzz reported that LSG is in talks with Justin Langer for the head coach’s role.
Again, there is no official word on Langer’s discussions with LSG but if appointed, he will replace Andy Flower. There is still a long time left for IPL 2024 and the fans will have to wait for a few months to get a word on Gambhir’s future with LSG.
