Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli has surpassed the test runs of prolific Indian opener Virender Sehwag on the Day 2 of the 1st test of the West Indies series. The 34-year-old become the fifth-highest run-getter in the team surpassing the former Indian opener.

The prolific Indian batter went past the record of Virender Sehwag during the 2nd test of the West Indies series, the former Indian skipper remains unbeaten on 36 at the end of the Day 2 play and will look to continue his form going onto the Day 3 alongside young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Virat Kohli is just below the Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar, and VVS Laxman in the list of the leading run-getter for India in test cricket. Earlier during the BGT 2023 Kohli broke the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record by becoming the fastest batter to complete 25,000 runs in international cricket.

The right-hander batter who got there in 549 innings, surpassed Sachin Tendulkar, who had got there in 577 innings. The list includes Ricky Ponting (588 innings), Jacques Kallis (594 innings), Kumar Sangakkara (608 innings), and Mahela Jayawardene (701 innings). Virat Kohli will look to break many more records in the years to come.

Virat Kohli is on the verge of equaling SachinTendulkar’s 49 centuries record in ODI Cricket, Virat Kohli has 46 centuries in 265 innings with a stupendous batting average of 57.32. Many experts also believe Virat Kohli (75) can cross the master blaster’s record of 100 centuries in International Cricket.

Sachin Tendulkar was arguably one of the best batters of all time in International Cricket, Tendulkar has 100 centuries in international cricket, including 51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs with over 600 international games. Tendulkar retired from all formats of the game on November 2013.

The RCB continued his good form since scoring his first international century in Asia Cup 2022, which was his maiden T20I ton as well. He then ended his barren run in ODIs, by scoring 3 centuries in 4 ODIs against Bangladesh and New Zealand.

Kohli will be hoping to end his overseas test century drought in the West Indies soil as it has been close to five years for him to score a century away from home soil. The 34-year-old last century came against Australia in 2018 and this is will best chance for the Indian batter to end his century drought in overseas soil.
