Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was really happy to score a maiden hundred on his debut for the Indian team against West Indies. The Left-handed opener displayed excellent composure, as the youngster showed a lot of grit and determination to bat throughout the Day to score his first International century.
The Southpaw scripted history as he recorded a hundred in his maiden Test on away soil. The Mumbai-born batter became the 17th Indian batter to score a century on his debut for the Indian team in the longer format of the game. The left-hander batter is currently unbeaten on 143 after the end of Day 2 and will look to go score daddy hundred on the third day of the game.
Speaking to the media after a brilliant century against West Indies, Yashasvi Jaiswal was happy with his performance for the team in the 1st test and wants to bat as long as possible for the team in the 1st innings and expressed his gratitude to the people who supported him in this journey as he dedicated this performance to his family members.
“It feels really good. It was an emotional moment [getting 100]. My batting is still going on so the effort will be to play as long as possible for the team. This is the start of my career so I’ll strive to take that as long as possible too and see how focused and disciplined I can be going ahead,” he added.

“It is very emotional for me and my family. For everyone who has supported me in any way. It has been a long journey. I want to say thank you to everyone who has helped me. I want to dedicate this to my mother and father, they’ve contributed a lot. Thanks to god. I won’t say much now… I’m happy, this is just a start, I have a lot to do,” Yashasvi Jaiswal said.
Yashasvi Jaiswal made it into the Indian team following a terrific IPL season with the Rajasthan Royals and a domestic season with Mumbai. The opener was the standout performer for Rajasthan Royals in the recently concluded Indian Premier League and impressed everyone which his fearless approach to batting at the top of the order, taking on the world-class bowlers in IPL 2023, which helped him to cut the Indian side.

Yashasvi Jaiswal thanked the experienced players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ajinkya Rahane for sharing their experiences playing at the highest level, as it helps him to keep growing in the game and also wanted to keep scoring runs on Day 3.
“It makes a lot of difference when experienced players and legends of our team [like Rohit, Virat, Rahane] sit with you, talk to you… It makes a big difference because I keep learning from them, My aim is to give the team a good start [on Day 3]. Besides that, what happens, happens (about 200),” Yashasvi Jaiswal added
Given his form and confidence, he would be a vital cog for the Indian team going forward in all three formats of the game. The Left-handed opener will look to continue his fine form in the 1st innings as the Indian team will look to post a massive total in the 1st innings of the 1st test.
