Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer hailed experienced Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, and young Yashasvi Jaiswal for their brilliant performance in the 1st test against the West Indies team which helped the Indian team to secure a dominating victory over the Men in Maroon on Day 3

India started off the new World Test Championship cycle with an emphatic win over West Indies in the first team, with young Yashasvi Jaiswal and Indian skipper Rohit Sharma putting in a match-winning partnership in the 1st innings to score over 400 runs.

Meanwhile, on bowling veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bowled exceedingly to pick up 12 wickets in both innings to seal the game for the Indian team.

Taking his Twitter, Wasim Jaffer heaped praise on the top performers for the Indian team, who set up the game for the team in International cricket and lauded Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravichandran Ashwin for their match-winning performance in away conditions.

“Absolute domination in Dominica orchestrated by these three. While this test will be remembered as Yashasvi’s debut ton, Ashwin’s 12-fer deserves equal applause. Do not take greatness for granted. Well played Team India,” Wasim Jaffer tweeted.

Ravichandran Ashwin produced a match-winning spell with the ball against West Indies in the 1st test as he recorded one of his best away performances, taking 5/60 in the first innings and 7/71 in the second innings to finish with figure 12/131  to seal the game for the Indian team in the 1st test. He also became the first Indian bowler to dismiss the father-son duo in test cricket after dismissing Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Shivnarine Chanderpaul.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scripted history as he recorded a hundred in his maiden Test on away soil. The Mumbai-born batter became the 17th Indian batter to score a century on his debut for the Indian team in the longer format of the game.

The left-hander batter scored 171 runs in the 1st innings of the game, which helped the Indian team post a massive total of 421-5 in the 1st innings on tough conditions in West Indies.

The left-handed opener displayed excellent composure, as the youngster showed a lot of grit and determination to bat throughout the Day to score his first International century and the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma also returned to his usual best in International cricket following a poor WTC final and IPL 2023 and the team will look to continue their fine form going into next test.
