Indian skipper Rohit Sharma revealed that they won’t be any drastic change in playing XI for the 2nd Test against West Indies starting tomorrow. The Indian captain divulged the team’s playing combination for the 1st test on the media during the media interaction before the 1st test at Dominica.
Rohit Sharma-led side secured a dominating innings victory over West Indies in the 1st test and they will look to continue their winning run in the 2nd test and followed by three ODIS series where he will lead the side and the ODI series will act as preparation for the India team ahead of the all-important Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023.
Speaking to the media ahead of the 2nd game, Rohit Sharma said that the team has not finalized the playing 11 for the 2nd test, as they are rain threats around the game in the five days, and elated to play the 100th test match between India and West Indies as they team carries a lot of history over the years.
“In Dominica, we were clear, we saw the pitch conditions, and knew what was about to happen. Here we don’t have clarity as there is talk of rain, but I don’t think there will be any drastic changes. But whatever conditions are available on the five days of the Test, based on that, we will make that decision.”

“It’s a big occasion. It’s an honour to be taking the Indian team into this game and it doesn’t happen every day. The two teams have so much history, so much good cricket played,” Rohit Sharma said.
The 36-year-old scored a brilliant hundred on the first test and will look to continue his fine form in the West Indies tour, as his form will be crucial for the Men in Blue this year with Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023 being scheduled later this year in India.
I Am Sure They Will Bounce Back And It Will Be Exciting For Both Teams – Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma feels that the West Indies team will look to make a comeback into the test series in the 2nd match after a humiliating defeat in the 1st test and reckons that the transition faced by the Indian team would be happening soon and added that the team wants to give them role clarity to perform for the team at the highest level.
“I will expect no difference in this Test. I am sure they (Windies) will bounce back and it will be exciting for both teams,” Rohit Sharma added.

“Transition has to happen, whether today or tomorrow but I am happy that our boys who are coming in are doing well. And our role is important as we have to give them role clarity. Now it’s up to them how they want to prepare and perform for the team,” Rohit Sharma added.
Young Indian players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mukesh Kumar, and Ruturaj Gaikwad got their call for the India test squad on the back of their performances in the IPL and the team will look to develop their youngsters going into this World Test Championship cycle.
