Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal feels blessed to play alongside legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli for India, as he gets to learn a lot of things from the former Indian skipper, who has served the Indian team over the last decade and a half in International Cricket.

Virat Kohli is playing his 500th International game for India having made his debut way back in 2008 and has been an inspiration to a lot of young cricketers in the country to take up the game. The right-hander has established himself modern-day great of the game with his massive contribution to cricket in all three formats.

Speaking to the Broadcasters after the end of Day 2, Yashasvi Jaiswal said that it is a delight to watch him bat against the West Indies and was happy to play alongside him for India and reckons that everyone in the dressing room help him to improve his game and added he looks to listen to everyone carefully to pick their minds for the betterment of his game in cricket.

“It is amazing to see him bat. What can I say? He is a legend. I am blessed to play with him. There are a lot of things to learn from him be it cricket or outside of it. I try to pick his mind.

“Everyone has their way of explaining things. They all have experience. I listen to all of their advice very carefully. When they are talking there are few thoughts behind it. Getting information, small other stuff, it’s just incredible,” Yashasvi Jaiswal said.

India is well on top at the end of Day 1 with 288-4 with Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja remaining unbeaten in the 1st innings. The former Indian skipper will be hoping to end his overseas test century drought in the 2nd test against West Indies as it has been close to five years for him to score a century away from home soil.

Yashasvi Jaiswal also ruined the missed opportunity to score big runs in the 1st innings of the second test against West Indies and expressed his disappointment in not being able to score big runs after being well-settled in the middle alongside Rohit Sharma.

“Of course, I am disappointed. It happens in cricket. I just need to keep learning and keep thinking that how I can do better when I come to bat next,” Yashasvi Jaiswal added

The 21-year-old will look to continue his fine form going into the 2nd innings of the second test and also be part of the India squad for the T20 series against West Indies. The Left-handed opener is likely to make his debut in the T20 series as he had a brilliant outing for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023.
