Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer has picked up three players who can take up the Indian cricket baton forward in International cricket after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Both players have been all-important pillars of Indian cricket for some time, but with age not being on their side, talks have emerged about their potential replacement in the Indian team.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are two of the biggest stalwarts in Indian cricket over the last decade or so and they have been serving the game for the past decade and continuing to dominate the game in this era, inspiring millions of youngsters to take up the game. Many Indian youngsters have shown a glimpse of their potential to replace these superstars in the Indian team once they hang up their boots.
During a discussion in Jiocinema, Wasim Jaffer picked Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill as the first two choice players, who potential to dominate the game just like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as they have grown up in the ranks to represent the country at the highest level.
“One is Yashasvi Jaiswal. I see him as a three-format player. He has performed amazingly well in the IPL and has made an excellent start in Test cricket.”

“Shubman Gill is the second name I will take. If we talk only about batting, I see these two players as very strong contenders who will take Indian cricket forward after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli,” Wasim Jaffer said.
Yashasvi Jaiswal displayed excellent composure to score his maiden hundred in his debut game, as the youngster showed a lot of grit and determination to play in International cricket after having a brilliant season with Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023.
Another youngster Shubman Gill has shown his worth in all three formats of the game since his debut for India and has been enjoying some fine form in 2023 though he could not make an impact in two innings on Caribbean soil.
Sai Sudharsan Can Become A Very Good Player In The Future – Wasim Jaffer
Wasim Jaffer has picked Tamil Nadu opener Sai Sudharsan as his third choice of player for the way he played in the cash-rich league for the Gujarat Titans and his brilliant century against Pakistan in the ACC emerging team cup, which helped India to win the game comfortably against the Men in Green in Sri Lanka.

“Sai Sudharsan is a player who I have liked a lot, the way he has played in the IPL. After that, he scored a century against Pakistan A in the emerging teams’ tournament that is going on. So I feel he can become a very good player in the future,” Wasim Jaffer added.
Sai Sudharshan has been exceptional in domestic cricket for Tamil Nadu in 2022, doing brilliantly in all three formats of the game, and has carried on his form into the cash-rich league this season as he scored 362 runs in the eight matches he played in IPL 2023.
The Tamil Nadu opener played an outstanding knock against Chennai Super Kings in the final of IPL 2023 but ended up on the losing side and could be a key figure for the Indian team going forward in all three formats of the game.
