2023 had been a wild year so far in wrestling and it has came up with some amazing matches already. Road Dogg who is the WWE Hall of Famer and a former six times WWE World Champion recently revealed his pick for the Match of the Year 2023 so far. It would be a tough decision for anyone to pick only one match since there were a lot of excellent matches already.

The Tag Team specialist revealed that his favourite Match of the year 2023 so far was the iconic tag team match from Money in the Bank where the WWE Undisputed Universal Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns teamed up with his cousin Solo Sikoa to take on the legendary team of The Usos.

This is definitely one of the best matches of the year so far, and we can guarantee even by the end of the year, this match will remain a contender to be the Match of the Year. Speaking on his podcast, ‘Oh…Youd Didn’t Know‘, the former six times WWE Tag Team Champion explained why he thinks this was the best match of the year so far;

“I got to say, The Usos vs. Roman and Solo.” Said Road Dogg, “To me, it was the best story. It’s the best build to a story. I don’t know, I’m just all invested emotionally into that story. I think they paid it off in a big way where now you gotta see [what’s next].

“Then, they hurt Jimmy [Uso], and so now Jay challenges Roman, right? Like, oh my God, we’re still going, and I’ve already seen what I felt was, again, speaking emotionally, what I thought was the match of the year.

“My favourite match, again, because of my emotional investment into the story — it didn’t matter if they did five-star spots or took a big risk, or did all this because you risk yourself every time you go out there. It was just heart and soul, man.

“Also, they’re in there with their brothers and their cousin, and they’re working on this huge [stage]. I can’t help but to feel that. I don’t even know what that is, but I feel it vicariously through them because I’d love to be able to work with my brothers, and I have worked with a couple of my brothers, and just to be in there on that grandest stage and just ruling the roost man I don’t know like they’re my heart’s in that ring with those guys.”

The match will always remain special because Roman Reigns got pinned for the first time in three and a half years in this match. This was an outcome that nobody expected and this is what makes the match really special. Jey Uso was the wrestler who did the unthinkable and he is going to face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Universal Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.
