West Indies fast-bowling legend Curtly Ambrose feels that Virat Kohli should not be compared with Sachin Tendulkar as both players are done exceedingly well for the Indian team over the last few years. The West Indies pacer has played against Sachin Tendulkar during his playing days and has watched Virat Kohli’s rise in International Cricket.

Ever since Virat Kohli started his International Career, he has been compared with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, the most decorated batsman in the history of the game. And with Kohli scoring runs at a remarkable consistency for India in all three formats and the comparison between the two stalwarts rise as the Indian batting maestro has been chasing the records of the master blaster in International Cricket.

Speaking on Revsportz, Curtly Ambrose said that he doesn’t want to compare the two stalwarts of Indian cricket as the master blaster has achieved everything in cricket and reckons that he is not someone who likes to two compare two individuals, who have got different skillset.

“I wouldn’t want to compare both players, Sachin Tendulkar was a great player and achieved just about everything in cricket. You can’t take away from his cricketing knowledge and the way he played. I’m not the kind of guy who would like to compare,” Curtly Ambrose said.

Virat Kohli is just below the Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar, and VVS Laxman in the list of the leading run-getter for India in test cricket. Earlier during the BGT 2023 Kohli broke the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record by becoming the fastest batter to complete 25,000 runs in international cricket.

Every Great Player Goes Through A Patch, Where They Fail To Score Hundreds – Curtly Ambrose

Curtly Ambrose feels that it is unfair to criticize the Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli over his form in the last couple of years as every cricketer goes through a lean patch in International Cricket and hailed him for scoring a century against West Indies in the 2nd test and believes that he has got a lot of things to do in the International cricket.

“When you’re a great player and going through a lean patch, like Virat Kohli in the last couple of years where he hadn’t scored a century outside India, people tend to look at him and say ‘Oh, he’s over the hill, he’s struggling cause he hasn’t scored a century,’ and all that stuff.

“It’s unfair. Every great player goes through a patch where they fail to score hundreds or fail to be consistent”.

“He is still a quality player, I’m really happy he got a hundred. Unfortunately, it’s against the West Indies, but that should do his confidence a world of good, and shut up some people who think he is over the hill.

“He’s not, he still has a lot to contribute to Indian cricket and cricket in general,” Curtly Ambrose added.

The former Indian skipper is fit and raring to go in for a few more years in International cricket, as he found his usual best starting at the 2022 Asia Cup in Dubai and would be a key player for the Indian team going into the all-important Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023.
