Liverpool transfer round-up: 1 medical; 3 left-back links and one big story 1

The Reds have generally been busy since the start of the transfer window with the new manager Jurgen Klopp using his first summer window to its fullest.

He has bought in a number of new players to strengthen his squad and is slowly letting go of players who are deemed to be in excess. They are also linked with a number of players with the transfer window still open so let’s take a look at all the stories surrounding the Anfield outfit today.

Liverpool’s in-form midfielder who is slowly growing n confidence, Joe Allen is all set to leave the club and is close to a move to Stoke.

The Welsh international completed a medical at Stoke ahead of a £13million move this summer. The 26-year old played in a Liverpool shirt for 4-years and has just a year left on his contract but the fans were unhappy to let the midfielder who was catching some form leave ahead of the next season.

Moving on, remember when the club was linked with a move for Schalke’s Max Meyer? It is understood that it was all a rumour after Schalke’s sporting director, Christian Heidel poured cold water on that rumour in an interview in Germany.

Heidel told German sports paper RevierSport that such talk was an “invention of the Bild newspaper,” And rubbished all rumors linking the Reds with a move for the 20-year old.

Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp are understood to be fed-up over their pursuit of Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell. The Foxes are ready to offer the youngster a new contract and it is understood that Liverpool are making a last ditch attempt to lure him to Anfield.

Alberto Moreno has not been impressive in the last season and Klopp wants Chilwell to compete for his place and has reportedly made a £8m for the player. But reports later in the day broke out that the 19-year old will now sign a five-year contract with Leicester City ahead of the next season leaving Liverpool with no chance.

In other news, the Reds have taken former Barcelona left-back Juanma on trial.

The versatile defender has joined Michael Beale’s U23s and featured in the side’s 4-1 win over Rhyl FC on Sunday afternoon, in which he bagged himself an assist.

Staying on the topic of left-backs, Liverpool are also linked with a £13m move for PSV’s Jetro Willems.

The 22-year old Dutch international is an exciting prospect for the Reds and it is understood that Klopp has made a bid to bring him to Anfield this summer. It is to be seen if a move takes place in the coming days especially with a bid in place for Chilwell as well.

Finally, in a news that broke out very late, the club is yet again linked with Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

There were plenty of rumours linking the French international with a move to Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund in recent times but it is now understood that the German club and Liverpool are making a move for the 26-year old.

The Magpies’ claim that they have received no offers for the Frenchman, sources at newspaper Le 10 Sport suggest the duo have contacted Sissoko directly. However, it is currently unclear as to which of the reports are true in this story.

His displays in EURO16 obviously attracted the clubs but it is debatable if Liverpool need a player like him at the moment.
