England head coach Brendon McCullum feels that the young Indian opener Shubman Gill has more talent than other international players at present. The 24-year-old failed to get going in the recently concluded West Indies series being inconsistent with his performance in all three formats of the game.

The youngster has worked with Brendon McCullum during his stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2020 and 2021 before moving to Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022 and the former New Zealander skipper has moved from the franchise to take up the role of England’s test skipper in the longer format of the game.

Speaking about Shubman Gill’s ability in the CEAT Awards show, Brendon McCullum said that he enjoyed working with Indian openers in Kolkata Knight Riders and hailed him as one of the best batters in the world at the moment.

“Shubman Gill is someone I really enjoyed working with. He’s someone who has more talent than most of the international players,” Brendon McCullum said.
