Former Pakistan skipper Rashid Latif slammed the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) over the absence of the host nation in the Asia Cup jersey. Pakistan was the original host of the continental event but is co-hosting the event in a hybrid model following the refusal of BCCI to visit the neighbouring nation due to the political tension between the two countries.
The host nation’s name was not seen on the jersey of the Asia Cup 2023, as Pakistan’s ODI World Cup jersey has the name of India in it. The pictures of the new jersey for the continental event were circulating on social media with the absence of the host country’s name was noted beneath the Asia Cup logo.
According to the reports on NDTV, Rashid Latif lambasted the Asian Cricket Council for overseeing the name of the Pakistan team in the jersey of the Asia Cup 2023.

“This is unacceptable and it is the Asian Cricket Council which must explain this oversight since the Asia Cup is their property.” Rashid Latif said
According to various sources, It was revealed that the Asian Cricket Council has decided against mentioning the host nations’ names under the logo starting from the previous Asia Cup in UAE and said that it will follow in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, as it is a deliberate decision not print the host nation name under the logo.
BCCI Official Felt It Would Be Embarrassing For The Indian Team Players… – Mohsin Khan
Former Pakistan batter Mohsin Khan expressed his disappointment over the absence of the host country name in the logo, as he cited the presence of the host country name in the Asian Emerging Nations Cup and Asian under-16 Cup and feels that BCCI would have felt that it would have been embarrassing for the Indian team to wear the name of Pakistan in their jersey.
“Makes no sense at all. Then why has the ACC given the host country’s name on the logos for their Asian Emerging Nations Cup or their Asian under-16 event held in July in Malaysia?”

“Given the current scenario between the two countries perhaps the BCCI official felt it would be embarrassing for the Indian team players to wear kits with the name of Pakistan on the official Asia Cup logo,” Mohsin Khan said.
Asia Cup 2023 is hosted by both Pakistan and Sri Lanka as four matches will be played in Pakistan, and the remaining nine matches will be played in Sri Lanka but both nation’s names were printed on the jerseys of the players.
