Liverpool were busy on the day having lost to Antonio Conte’s Chelsea in the International Champions Cup late last night.
However, that did not stop the rumors linking the club with a number of players and linking players from the club to a number of destinations. So here is a recap of all the stories that came out of Anfield today:
Let’s start with Klopp’s exodus at the club. Mario Balotelli, who has not been in action in the pre-season games with the club has all but ended his Liverpool career. The manager is not ready to spare him a place in the squad and reports suggested that Turkish outfit Besiktas were interested in buying him this summer.
However, those links have now vanished after the club’s official site removed comments made by the club’s president regarding the Liverpool player. It now looks like the Reds need to find another destination to off-load the naughty Italian.
Moving on, in a huge update on French international Mamadou Sakho’s story, manager Jurgen Klopp spoke to the media and revealed exactly why he was sent back home.
“It’s not that serious. He missed the departure of the plane, he missed a session and then was late for a meal,” he said.
“When we come back, we can talk about it,” he added. He also said that this does not mean that he wants to sell the defender and that things will be sorted out after their trip to the US.
In the club’s pursuit of a left-back this summer, Leeds United defender Charlie Taylor is now linked with a move to the club this summer.
The 22-year old is not happy to extend his contract with the Championship outfit and it is understood that Klopp is pondering over a move having left the likes of Flanagan and Smith to leave the club earlier in the week.
And he is not the only left-back the club was linked on the day. Liverpool are reportedly interested in Lyon’s starlet Jordy Gaspar.
The 19-year old is one of the most exciting players in the domestic circuit in France and is expected to be an understudy to Moreno which does not solve the problem at hand for the club.
But his potential will surely help Liverpool develop a player who can establish himself in the first team in years to come.
In other news, the Reds announced that they have tied 19-year-old forward Harry Wilson down to a new contract. Having spent last season on loan at Crewe Alexandra, the 19-year old has impressed the new manager at Anfield and has secured himself a new contract with the club.
And finally, for the biggest story of the day, Liverpool are linked with a Real Madrid attacker for a move this summer.
It was revealed yesterday that Zinedine Zidane has advised star attacker Jese Rodriguez to look for potential clubs for the next season.
The 23-year old is now below Alvaro Morata in the pecking order at the club and is looking for a way out of Bernabeu this summer and it is understood that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are one of many clubs who are interested in signing him.
However, with the plethora of talent that the club already has in his position, it is hard to see why the Reds would move for the versatile attacker this summer.
