West Ham rejected in their approach for star Arsenal defender 1

Arsene Wenger revealed at the end of the last season that he will let go of all of his fringe players who have not been able to impress him in the previous season.

The likes of Mikel Arteta and Thomas Rosicky have no place at the Emirates next season and the manager is busy trying to let go of all other players who may not have a role to play at the club next season.

But recent reports have suggested that the manager wants to keep hold of Kieran Gibbs, the full-back who has fallen out of favor recently.

Slaven Bilic, the West Ham manager is in search of a left back to cover the injury to Aaron Cresswell. The 26-year old defender picked up a nasty injury on a pre-season tour to Austria and is out injured for up to 4 months leaving the Hammers in search of a top class full-back this summer.

And it is understood that Arsenal’s Gibbs would have fit the bill perfectly at the Olympic stadium.

The 26-year old Arsenal defender has fallen down the pecking order with Nacho Monreal expected to start most games for the club next season.

However, it is now understood that Arsene Wenger is not ready to let go of Gibbs and has rejected West Ham’s approach for a move this summer.

It is revealed that Slaven Bilic wanted a loan move for the 26-year old only as a cover for Cresswell but Wenger did not want to do any business with his city-rivals and is ready to keep him at the club for another season.

The experience of Gibbs will go a long way in helping West Ham United repeat their performances from the previous season but it looks like his days at the Emirates are not yet over.

The manager is not really looking to add a full-back to his squad which means that he will use the full-backs currently in the squad to the full extent.

Gibbs will get his chances not just by injuries but also with the amount of game time Arsenal will have next season and if he is not able to impress the manager in the few chances he gets next season, he may well be out on his way at the end of the season.

Do you think Kieran Gibbs has a future at Arsenal?
