- They are a very good fielding side.
- Their Bowling looks as the stronger department.
- Craig Simmons is an explosive opener.
Weakness:
- They don’t have a squad which is capable of challenging teams in CLT20.
- Scorchers have a poor CLT20 record inspite of having a good BBL record.
- They will miss Shaun Marsh, Pat Cummins and Simon Katich badly.
- Scorchers can’t chase huge targets easily.
Perth Scorchers go into the CLT20 without any chance of winning the tournament, the same way they are doing for the past two years. If they manage to reach the next round, then it is a better result for the men from Western Australia. They will be without the services of their skipper Simon Katich and batsman Shaun Marsh. In the absence of Katich, Adam Voges will lead the side.
Opener Craig Simmons will be their trump card as the left hander has scored nearly 400 runs in 12 innings at an average of 35 and an astonishing strike rate of over 167. HE will be crucial in getting the team off to a flier and set the tone for the innings. Voges, is a sensible batsman who plays according to the situation and will be vital in keep the score board ticking. Mitchell Marsh is a big hitter who can smash the balls out of the park with ease. These are the three batsman on whom the entire team relies on.
Unlike their batting, Scorchers’ bowling is their strength. Nathan Coulter Nile and Yasir Arafat are pretty good in T20’s and scoring against them is not easy for the batting side. Even Brad Hogg has something left him as a spinner.
Possible Playing XI:Craig Simmons, Ashton Agar, Hilton Cartwright, Adam Voges, Mitchell Marsh, Ashton Turner, Sam Whitman, Nathan Coulter Nile, Yasir Arafat, Brad Hogg, Jason Behrandoff.
