Breaking: Chelsea star named Premier League player of the month for August 1

Chelsea star Eden Hazard’s return to old form has been rewarded with the Premier League player of the month prize for August. Hazard beat Manchester United’s Antonio Valencia, Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and Hull City’s Curtis Davies to win the award.

The Belgium international had a terrible campaign last term when he had to wait until April 23 to find the back of the net for the first time in the league. However, the winger has rediscovered his form this term and has hit the ground running under new Blues’ boss Antonio Conte.

He has now scored two goals in his first three appearances for the Blues this season, showing that old form that won him PFA Player of the Year for 2014/15 as he led Chelsea to Premier League glory.

Hazard is currently third in the goal scoring charts behind Sergio Aguero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who are the league’s only players to have scored three goals in their opening three games. He has also completed the most successful dribbles (17), four more than any other Premier League player.

Meanwhile, after a disappointing last season, Chelsea have started the new season on a bang and have won their opening three matches. And to challenge for the title, they will need Hazard to perform consistently like this.
