EA Sports have unveiled the top 20 Premier League players in FIFA 17 and the rankings are certain to provoke major debate.
Whilst Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David De Gea occupy the number one and two spots in the English game, the only two players ranked 90 or above who are plying their trade in the Premier League, it is Mesut Ozil who wins the prize of London’s pixelated king.
The Arsenal playmaker is ranked the third best player in the Premier League, just ahead of Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and Sergio Aguero.
Despite their impressive season in 2015-16, where they finished above Chelsea and the Manchester sides, Tottenham have only one player in the league’s top twenty, club captain Hugo Lloris.
It’s the same number for West Ham, whose fans will not be surprised to see Dimitri Payet has taken a significant bump in ratings after a memorable debut season in the English league.
As significant as those on the list will be the high-profile absentees. Whilst Tottenham fans may be unimpressed by Golden Boot winner Harry Kane’s absence Leicester fans are likely to be stunned at the game’s failure to include title winners Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, the two footballers of the year last season. Even Chelsea new boy N’Golo Kante didn’t make the cut.
