While the international break has consumed Chelsea of many of their big names there were still plenty of familiar faces around the club’s Cobham training ground.
One face (and hairstyle) that was instantly recognisable was that of David Luiz, who is back at Stamford Bridge following a £32m Deadline Day move from PSG.
Two years after he left the club for £50m, the defender was seen training alongside fellow centre-backs Gary Cahill and captain John Terry and it will be interesting to see where he will fit in to Antonio Conte’s plans.
Also in training, was fellow new boy Marcos Alonso, signed from Firoentina, it is expected he will soon occupy the left-back spot, with current incumbent Cesar Azpilcueta shifting to his more natural right side.
This would make Branislav Ivanovic the odd man out and having looked solid since he moved to the Blues back in 2008, he was uncharacteristically shaky last season and despite three wins from three so far, his form is still up for debate.
Cesc Fabregas – who has begun the campaign on the substitutes’ bench, but has impressed – was seen getting into the thick of the action as he aims to force his way into the starting line-up for Sunday’s trip to Swansea.

With the only other two side in the Premier League to achieve maximum points facing off in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford on Saturday, Chelsea can not afford to slip up, even at this early stage, if they are to make headway in the title race.
