It has been quite a busy window for Jose Morinho and his side, but this window kept him busy more in selling and loaning out players more than buying. Chelsea’s biggest buy and arguably the best buy of this season was Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid. Costa had been one of the best players of the Spanish La Liga last season and he is doing quite well since his start for Chelsea.
Another big buy from Chelsea was the signing of the former Arsenal man Cesc Fabregas. This buy raised a lot of questions among the fans and critics because of the comments made by Fabregas previously. But since the Spaniard is doing fabulous on the pitch, people will not remember such things for long.
The other buys; Fillipe Luis, Didier Drogba and Loic Remy are quite smart moves too. These signings really made the squad of Chelsea stronger than any other side. Brining Didier Drogba back is more of an emotional move, which could come handy. Loic Remy failed his medical at Liverpool but Chelsea still wanted to give him a chance.
Selling Romelu Lukaku for a fee of £26 million was another wise move. The Belgian would not be able to make his way to the first eleven in Chelsea so this move helped both player and the team. Chelsea also received £50 million for their Brazilian centre back David Luiz. Critics kept asking question if the price paid was justified but Chelsea really did a solid business here.
Chelsea loaned out a total of 18 players. Their £50 million striker Fernando Torres is among one of them. Torres joined AC Milan on loan this season. Among other important names, Marko Marin, Victor Moses, Ryan Bertrand etc. could be notified.
Overall, this was by far Chelsea’s one of the best transfer windows. They are a serious contender after fixing all the problems they had in their squad. We rate Chelsea’s transfer business really high.
