Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez appears to rate himself in the same bracket as Messi-Ronaldo.

The pair are widely thought of as the two best players in the world, helping Barcelona and Real Madrid to dominate European football over the past decade.

“I have reached a level where I can compete with great players,” the 27-year-old told Spanish publication Sport.

“I do not feel inferior to anybody.

“I liken [my qualities] to Messi and Ronaldo. I have the same abilities as them.”

Sanchez has already started to show his class this season, having scored once and assisted twice in the three Premier League matches to date.

With games against Southampton, PSG, and Hull City coming up in the space of seven days, the forward will need to keep up this strong start to help the Gunners recover from their slow start to the campaign.

Manchester City, Manchester United, and Chelsea have all managed 100% starts to the north Londoners’ single win, draw, and loss, and Sanchez will be key to their fight back against the title favourites.

Many believe that Alexis Sanchez could be the man to take on the goalscoring mantle this season. The Chilean has started each of Arsenal’s three Premier League fixtures in the No. 9 role, but it’s now time to bring that experiment to a close.

With a new forward acquired in Lucas Perez and a familiar one fit again in the shape of Olivier Giroud, Sanchez is free to return to the wing.

However, Sanchez is so ravenous in his appetite to be involved in the play that he is often drawn to the ball, leaving the Gunners without a focal point.

Only in the most recent match, the 3-1 win at Watford before the international break, did he really begin to perform up top. Much of that can be credited to the return of Mesut Ozil.

With Ozil operating behind them, any striker looks markedly better.
