Jurgen Klopp changes Anfield nets in search of more goals 1

Liverpool have recently revealed the reason behind changing the color of the nets at Anfield as manager Jurgen Klopp has asked the club to change the color to white from existing Red.

The Reds have started their Premier League campaign at Anfield last weekend and have hammered Premier League champions Leicester City 4-1 with goals from Lallana, Sane, and Firminho.

However, one of the most discussed points was not the Reds win but the color switch of goal nets at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp and his players have asked ground staff to change the color of nets on Thursday night as he feels the color switch could help the players’ shooting accuracy.

The official club website has also released an article about the change as the boss felt the background of Kop and the goal net are both Red which is affecting the player’s vision on goal.

The change was implemented in Reds first home game against Leicester City and they have scored plenty of goals (four of them) with white goal nets placed. The new change will help the players’ peripheral vision as the goal would be more visible with the change of color.

Meanwhile, former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was the one who have restored the color of the goal nets to Red in August 2012 as he felt the color tells about the history of the Merseyside club which could motivate the side to go for glory.

The Reds have previously changed the goal nets from Red to White in 1995 with then manager Roy Evans also felt the same way as Jurgen Klopp did as the Red nets have made the visibility difficult in front of the Kop who predominantly wore Red.

The club have also declared that the nets would be white for the entire 2016/17 season and are hopeful of more goals by the Reds after their clinical performance against Leicester City.
