Arsenal are keen to sign Benfica’s young attacking midfielder Goncalo Guedes, according to reports from CalcioMercato.
The 19-year old is touted as one of the best young players in entire Portugal and have been a regular starter for Portuguese giants Benfica over the past two seasons and was also the part of Euro winning Portuguese side earlier this summer.
The youngster has helped Benfica in winning back to back Premiera Liga titles in the past two seasons and have been impressing with his stellar performances for Benfica.
He has already made four appearances for the club this season and remains an integral part of the squad this season. The player’s impressive progress have drawn the interest from clubs across Europe but Arsenal remains to lead the chase to sign him.
Guedes remains a target for Arsenal as they have queried about the midfielder earlier this summer but Porto were keen to keep hold of him after letting Renato Sanches leave for Bayern Munich.
The Gunners have sent scouts to watch the talented midfielder in their Champions League clash against Besiktas as they continue to monitor his progress.
The Portuguese champions are also offering the player much needed Champions League as the player have scored against Atletico Madrid last season. The 19-year old is set to grow into a better player at Benfica this season and Arsenal are looking to sign him next summer.
He has also made international debut for Portugal last year as he is capped twice so far by the European champions. His stay at Benfica this season would give him first team football which is very crucial at his age before making a decision on his future.
The player came from Benfica academy and has a contract till 2021 with the Portuguese champions as Arsenal need to try hard to lure him away to Emirates next summer.
