Arsenal loanee survives injury scare, still doubtfull for full EPL debut 1

Jack Wilshere’s hopes of starting a game for Bournemouth can be delayed after the Cherries manager Eddie Howie claimed that he is not in a hurry to include the player in his playing line-up. The midfielder made his debut for Bournemouth when he came off the bench during his side’s 1-0 win over West Brom but a full debut is still in doubts.

According to reports in English news outlet The Sun, the England international underwent a scan on his left ankle this week. However, the daily claimed that it was only a precautionary measure and the midfielder was able to train afterwards.

The injury-prone midfielder spent the majority of the time last season on the sidelines due to injury and his pre-season campaign was also slowed by a knee injury. With chances to play consistently for the Arsenal first team looking bleak, the midfielder signed for Bournemouth to  revive his career.

And Howe has indicated that he does not want to take a risk with the player. Praising him for his contribution in last weekend’s win over West Brom, Howe said:“With the outstanding quality he has, there’s no doubt about that. We’d like to see him in the team as quickly as possible.
“It’s a delicate balance between rushing him into the team and the long term. We have to think of that. We want him to play a lot of games for us so we’ll put him in when we think it’s right.

“I’ve been really pleased. I thought he had a big impact when he came on at a time in the game when the game was in the balance really.

“We had lost the full control we had had in the first half and I thought he wrestled that back for us. It was a big contributing factor to us winning the game.”

Currently at the 14th position, Bournemouth have a tough task ahead when they will take on league leaders Manchester City on Saturday.
