Budding Indian pacer Shardul Thakur sent the selectors who dropped him from the Test squad against New Zealand a message by picking up three wickets for 71 runs though his effort has gone in vain as Australia A handsome 150 run lead against India A in Brisbane on Friday.
In reply to India’s first-innings score of 169 all out, Australia A finished the on 319 for 5 at the close of play on Day Two of the final match of the two matches quadrangular series.
Thakur has taken two quick wickets at the beginning of Australia’s innings but the home side recovered well from 11 for 2 at the Allan Border Field.
Australia A started the day well, taking the final India A wicket with the fourth ball of the day to bowl out the visitor for 169, with Kane Richardson ended with a figure of 4 for 37. Highest scorer for India was Hardik Pandya.
Hilton Cartwright, the Western Australian batsman, dominated the day with the bat as he batting on one run short of his hundred with New South Wales’ Nic Maddinson who scored 81 before caught by Manish Pandey off the delivery of Jayant Yadav.
Tasmania batsman Beau Webster scored 79 off 186 balls, before being dismissed by Thakur.
