Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has become the first manager since his Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger to win his first two games at the Stamford Bridge. The record that stood for nineteen years was equalled by the former Borussia Dortmund coach after his team ended Chelsea’s unbeaten start to the season with a 2-1 win on Friday night.

The Reds continued their dominant start to the season and followed their 4-1 win over defending champions Leicester City with another commanding display. On a night that was completely dominated by the Merseyside club, Dejan Lovren opened the scoring in 17th minute when a teasing cross from Phillipe Coutinho was guided to the goal by the Croatia international. Liverpool took the driver’s seat in the match when their skipper Jordan Henderson doubled their lead with a spectacular 25-yard strike before half-time. Chelsea pulled one back early in the second half when Diego Costa found the back of the net from a close range but Liverpool held on to their lead to take all the three points.

With this win, the Reds have now collected 10 points from their opening five games and are now level with Chelsea.They are in the fourth position in the table behind Chelsea on goal difference.

Klopp registered his first victory at the Stamford Bridge and also with Liverpool when his side came from behind to win 3-1 last season. After Ramires gave the hosts a 1-0 lead, two stunning goals from Phillipe Coutinho and one by Christian Benteke sealed a memorable match for the Reds.

Gunner boss, Arsene Wenger, who became the first manager to win his first two matches at the Stamford Bridge, achieved the milestone in 1997 with a 3-0 win and a 3-2 victory.
