India’s limited overs skipper Mahender Singh Dhoni’s upcoming biopic ‘M.S. Dhoni- The Untold Story’ is one of the most anticipated movies of this year. Fans across the country are desperately waiting to know more about the life of India’s most decorated skipper.
As the movie is approaching its release date, it is getting involved in quite a few controversies. Recently, a political party in Maharashtra threatened to boycott the movie when the producers of the movie expressed their desire of dubbing the movie in Marathi before its release in the state. Another issue that cropped up a few days ago was that Dhoni demanded 40 crores for his biopic. However, the director of the movie made it clear that it was only a rumour and so far no new controversy has raised its head. But the latest statement of Gautam Gambhir will surprise the fans. Biopics on cricketers have become a trend this year and apart from Dhoni, a biopic is also being made on batting legend Sachin Tendulkar. However, according to media reports Gambhir, who shared a turbulent relationship with Dhoni, is not a great fan of cricketers’ biopics and believes that cricketers do not deserve biopics.
When asked about the upcoming movie on Dhoni, the southpaw said:“Not at all, I don’t believe in biopics on cricketers.”
“I think those people, who have contributed more to the country than the cricketers, deserve a biopic. There are lots of people in the country who have done so many noble deeds for the nation. Therefore biopics should be made on their lives,” he added.
Well, we really respect Gambhir’s point of view but in this cricket crazy nation, fans are desperate to catch a glimpse of Dhoni’s biopic. The movie, which is scheduled to hit the theatres on September 30, traces the journey of Dhoni, who fought against all the odds and crossed numerous hurdles to play for his country.
