A couple of days ago Gautam Gambhir said that he was against biopics made on cricketers. The out of favour Indian batsman said that biopics should be made on people who deserve it more than a cricketer. The year has seen quite a few biopics made on cricketers. After a biopic on Mohammad Azharuddin was released a few months ago, another biopic made on MS Dhoni is all set to hit the theatres on September 30. A biopic on Sachin Tendulkar is also being made.
However, the concept has not gone down well with the Delhi batsman, and as quoted in a leading website, he said:“Not at all, I don’t believe in biopics on cricketers.I think those people, who have contributed more to the country than the cricketers, deserve a biopic. There are lots of people in the country who have done so many noble deeds for the nation. Therefore biopics should be made on their lives.”
And after the terrorist attack on Indian army brigade headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri on Sunday where 17 soldiers were killed, the Indian batsman took to Twitter to show once again that he was not a great fan of biopics made on cricketers.
These 17 martyrs deserv a biopic rather dan any cricketer. No better inspiration dan a young man sacrificing his life 4 his country.

But the message did not go down too well with some fans and they said that the Indian batsman is doing this only out of jealousy. There are speculations among fans that Gautam Gambhir does not share a good relationship with Dhoni and so he is taking a dig at the Indian captain.

The one who contributes to the country is a hero. Be it any cricketer or soldier. Contribution deserves recognition.

With the situation taking an ugly turn, Gambhir took to Twitter to clarify his tweet and said that he was not against the biopic of “ANY ONE” cricketer but was against the concept of making a biopic on his own life.
My detractors got it wrong. Am not against ANY ONE cricketer's biopic, am against d very concept which includes a biopic on my life.
