Manchester United have been one of the biggest spenders in Europe for some time now. They broke the world record for transfers this summer on their way to spending close to £150m on players in the summer and have made their squad a lot stronger from what it was before.
The likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly all came in on big money transfer and are expected to take the club to bigger heights than they reached in the last two seasons.
And though they have hit a rough patch early in the season, it is now understood that the club will not be spending big midway through the season and are reportedly happy with the squad at the manager’s disposal at the moment.
The Red Devils have now lost three games in a row and it has seen fans moan about their weaknesses in the squad.
The 3-1 defeat to Watford showed that lack of mettle in the midfield that saw them outplayed by Walter Mazzari’s side at the Vicarage Road.
This has seen the manager linked with a number of top class players for a move this January with Antoine Griezmann and James Rodriguez from Spain high on the transfer wishlist.
However, according to reports today, Jose Mourinho will not be given any funds to improve the squad even after the early hiccups to the season.

Over the years, Manchester United have not spent heavily on targets in the January transfer window and reports suggest that this January will be a similar one for United unless they are in grave need of replacements.
Juan Mata and Victor Valdes are the only two big name players United have purchased in January over the years and it is understood that they have no player in mind at the moment on whom they want to spend big in January.
Sir Alex Ferguson always felt that the January transfer window provides poor options in terms of quality and it looks like the Red Devils will follow a similar approach to their transfer window this season.
It is also revealed that the £145m spent on Paul Pogba (£89m), Henrikh Mkhitaryan (£26m) and Eric Bailly (£30m) is enough, along with Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s £200,000-a-week wages may be holding them back a bit but for a club of United’s stature, prices of the player are one of the least worrying problems.
However, it is possible that the manager decides to trip the squad with the likes of Phil Jones, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Matteo Darmian all deemed surplus to requirements at the club this season.
It will, however, be interesting to see if Mourinho makes his own funds to add a player to his squad in the summer. Do you think Manchester United need to spend in January or are they strong enough to win the title without any additions?
