Manchester United are back in action this Wednesday as Jose Mourinho, the new manager, will hope to put the last few games out of his mind. The Red Devils have now lost all of their last 3 games in all competitions and will be hoping to get back to winning ways in the League Cup this mid-week. The manager might ring in the changes to get the best of the squad but he will have to field a strong lineup to get the better of Northampton in this game. Here is the predicted lineup for the Red Devils for this game:
Team News:
The manager is expected to rest most of his senior players which will give him a chance to use the fringe players in the squad who have not been given many chances so far this season. Luke Shaw, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Antony Martial and Phil Jones remain sidelined and will play no role in this game. Here is their strongest lineup that they might field against Northampton on Wednesday:
Goal Keeper:
Sergio Romero:
The forgotten United shot stopper will get his first chance to impress the manager this week when he will be handed a start for this League Cup game.
Defense:
Matteo Darmian:
The Italian was not impressive in the previous outing against Feyenoord and will hope to prove himself this week against Northampton.
Chris Smalling:
Though started the season brightly, Smalling has lost his place in the squad recently and will have to fight it out in this game to get back into the good books of the manager.
Eric Bailly:
The summer signing has not been the best defender in the league this season and has been prone to regular mistakes. This game will give him plenty of experience going ahead in the season.
Marcos Rojo:
The Argentine has also not been able to get a place in the starting XI but if he is able to prove himself in this game, he may be able to crawl back into the side for the next game.
Midfield:
Morgan Schneiderlin:
Having missed out on a place in the side to Fellaini and Pogba, Schneiderlin will be happy to take his place in the midfield for this game and will hope to impress the manager to displace either of the midfielders in the next league game.
Ander Herrera:
Another player who has not been able to get enough game time under Mourinho, Herrera, will be hoping to show what he is made up of in this game at the Sixfields.
Jesse Lingard:
The youngster made a decent start to the season but has slowly faded away. This game might be a must needed change for the winger who will play an important role on the night.
Juan Mata:

The Spaniard was decent in the limited outings he has got this season and will hope to have a decent impact on the game this week.
Memphis Depay:
The Dutch international is yet to have any kind of an impact on the squad but a decent performance in this game might get him back into the first team under Mourinho at the weekend.
Attack:
Marcus Rashford:
The young England international has been superb this season for the Red Devils and he will lead the line for the club in this game to give Zlatan Ibrahimovic a must needed rest.
