Liverpool have looked promising this season under Jurgen Klopp. Taking the Reds into a full season for the first time, Klopp has made all the necessary signings he needs to bring back the glory days to Anfield.
The Reds have won against Arsenal away on opening day. But were a little inconsistent after the win. However, Klopp led Liverpool are looking dangerous as they have tamed Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend. Here we look at asking the stories around Liverpool today.
Former Liverpool player Danny Murphy has revealed that Jose Mourinho was very close to becoming Liverpool manager in 2004 but the Reds opted for Rafa Benitez as the latter won Spanish league the season before.
Murphy told talkSPORT: “When Benitez was appointed at Liverpool, it was between him and Mourinho. I know that for a fact. Mourinho wanted the Liverpool job massively.
“But Liverpool basically went with Benitez, because he’d just won the Spanish league title and UEFA Cup with Valencia and they thought that was more solid an appointment than someone who had only done it in Portugal. I know Mourinho was massively disappointed.”
José Mourinho then went on to manage Chelsea and changed the club’s future as he won back to back Premier League titles.

Liverpool vice-captain James Milner believes Lallana is going to have a spectacular season ahead as the latter has been impressing since the beginning of the season.
“He seems to glide across the turf and when there are a couple of men around him and he does his Cruyff turn away from them, it’s very hard to defend but it looks great as well,” Milner told Liverpoolfc.com.
“He seems to take everything in his stride, no matter how bad the pass is or how bubbly the pitch is or any situation really – he’s that sort of character.
“He’s great around the dressing room; he’s a big character and an experienced player as well. He’s great for us as a team on and off the field and I can only see him getting better and better. I think it’s going to be a big season for him.”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has remained calm over the goalkeeper situation as he is in a dilemma to choose one between Karius and Mignolet ahead of their clash with Hull City this weekend.
“This is not a place to announce lineups,” Klopp told a news conference. “But of course, we have to think about it in a very positive way.
“I was never a goalkeeper, but my father was a goalkeeper so I have a little bit of experience with them. It’s obviously a little bit different to if you change a midfield player or something, it’s hard to start one game for them then not the next, so I know about this.
“Whatever decision I make for the next game is not a final one, it doesn’t mean we will go like this through the next five years or something.”
