During this journey few players like Shakib Al Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahma etc. have been the mainstream players for this team.
Especially, Shakib Al Hasan, who has been the main player for them. Now he is set to enter record books as he is set to become the most successful bowler for Bangladesh in all formats of the game. Currently, he has 206 wickets to his name in ODIs which is just one less than that of Abdur Razzak, who is a most successful bowler of Bangladesh in ODI cricket. He will have a chance to break this record in upcoming home series against Afghanistan.
His teammate Mashrafe Mortaza with 203 wickets to his name is also in this race. However, it seems like Shakib will emerge as the final winner in the end as Mortaza may retire after paying 2-3 years more but Shakib still has 10 years of cricket remaining in him. Surely Shakib is more influential then Mortaza due to his all round skills but no one can deny and forget the contribution of Mortaza to Bangladesh cricket. Both of them have been the backbone of their team in past few years. They have built a strong base which the upcoming generation has to build upon in order make Bangladesh cricket so strong to be recognised as a premier team and not minnows.
