Virender Sehwag post unique message to wish R Ashwin on his 200th wicket 1

Ravichandran Ashwin’s meteoric rise in Test cricket is nothing short of astonishing. The Tamil Nadu off-spinner is turning heads with his consistent performances with the red cherry. In his short career so far, the offie has already registered his name in the record books after becoming the Indian cricketer with the most number of Man of the Series awards leaving behind the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag.

And the off-spinner achieved another big milestone in his already impressive Test career when he dismissed New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson in the first Test in Kanpur. He has become the second-fastest bowler to claim 200 Test wickets, behind only Australia’s Clarrie Grimmett.  In getting there, Ashwin took 18 five-fors and four 10-wicket match hauls.

The bowler is receiving accolades from all around for his achievement and so how can one expect Twitter king Virender Sehwag to not congratulate his former India teammate. The former swashbuckling batsman took to Twitter to wish Ashwin and as usual, the message had its fair share of uniqueness.

Calling him RecordChandran Ashwin, the Nawab of Najafgarh posted: “RecordChandran Ashwin. Well done on the first set of 200 wickets. Surely many more sets to go.”

Meanwhile, Ashwin’s three-wicket haul on the fourth day has derailed New Zealand’s chase. Chasing a daunting 434 to win, the visitors finished the day on 93 for 4 still needing 341 for an improbable win.
