Looking at the scorecard one can assume that the first Test between India and New Zealand was a one-sided affair but it will be totally wrong to think so.
Both the teams had their fair share of chances to sneak ahead in the match but in the end, it was the home time who made a brilliant comeback take charge of the match.
The opening two days were completely dominated by the Kiwis as after dismissing the hosts for 318, they ended the second day in a very strong position after scoring 152 for 1. But from the third day, it was all India as after dismissing New Zealand for 262, they scored 377 in their second innings to set the visitors an improbable target of 434.
After destroying the visitors in the first innings, the Indian spinners once again played a major role in dismissing the Kiwis for only 236 runs and helped the home team to win the first Test by 197 runs and also a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series.
Let us see how the players from both the teams performed:

Playing his first Test at home, the Karnataka youngster had a decent outing with the willow. Got the starts in both the innings but failed to convert them into big scores. Was also involved in a helmet controversy when he failed to take a catch cleanly and could have done better.
