It has been almost 6 months when the eighty years old Gurdeep Kaur Sodhi met her grandson Ish Sodhi during the T20 world cup 2016, from then she has been waiting for the moment to meet her grandson again. The New Zealand tour of India proved to be a boon for her as it was her chance to meet her grandson Ish (Inderber Singh Sodhi) again.
“It is great that Ishu is part of the New Zealand team. He called me up on September 14 after landing in India and asked me to pray for him. For the past four days I have been glued to the television and so are other members of our family. I start my day at 6am and watch ‘katha’ on television after which I pray for him. I have also been holding special prayers for his performance,” said Gurdeep Kaur Sodhi.
“I want my grandson to perform well. till now he has bowled really well and had got three wickets in two innings, including that of Murali Vijay, KL Rahul andCheteshwar Pujara,” she added.
“Though I would love to take churi for him along with other food items, but their management doesn’t allow them to have food from outside,” said a disappointed Gurdeep Kaur”.
She never misses any of the matches of her grandson and like many other Indian fans; Sachin Tendulkar is her favourite cricketer.
Gurdeep Kaur Sodhi last met her grandson during the T20 world cup whereas his son, paternal uncles of Ish Sodhi have already met Ish in Delhi before the practise game against Mumbai. New Zealand will travel to Punjab for the third ODI at Mohali, this will be an opportunity for Ish to meet his grandmother after a period of 6 months.
