Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger belives Alexis Sanchez is similar to Barcelona striker Luis Suarez. The Chilean has been in spectacular form this season as Wenger has decided to move him to central forward position.
The 27-year old has been the pivot in Arsenal’s attack in the recent weeks as he has scored four goals in his last three starts in Premier League which has helped Arsenal win four Premier League games on a spin.
Luis Suarez is arguably the best striker n the world as he is the complete package for a striker and have grown into a better player since moving to Barcelona in 2014 from rivals Liverpool.
‘First of all I had big competition up front. I thought Welbeck could play there, Giroud was playing there with different qualities and I reflected for a long time at the end of the season,’ Wenger told Sky Sports.
‘I decided to try Sanchez [up front]. He has similarities with Luis Suarez. At the start many people questioned that decision.’
He added: ‘I must say the few times I tried him before, he was not convincing in this position. You start to think is that a wrong decision or do I have to give him more time?
‘In the first two games I was not completely convinced but know, game after game, he’s growing into this position and getting better and better. Where he’s strong is that he can dribble, finish and he can also give a final ball.’
Arsenal are set to face Burnley on Sunday and Alexis Sanchez will yet again be an important player for Wenger as the Gunners are keen to win the game which would keep them close to title race.
