Generally known and recognised as the weakest group in Ranji Trophy, Group C, can be recognised by the lack of presence of international stars and lack of interest of fans to follow this group. This group has teams which have had hardly won Ranji trophy in past and also have bleak chances of winning the trophy this year as well.

Chattisgarh Ranji Team is the new entrance in Ranji Trophy and this makes them the 28th participants in Ranji trophy. Mohammad Kaif-led team will open their account playing against Tripura a JSCA stadium in Ranchi. Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Hyderabad, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Services, and Tripura are few other teams present in this group.
