Shakib Al Hasan breaks Shane Warne record, becomes second most successful spinner at home 1

Bangladesh all-rounder, Shakib AL Hasan, also the highest wicket-taker for his country in all formats of the game has broken the record of legendary spinner Shane Warne and is now second in the list of spinners with most wickets at home in ODI’s. Shakib achieved this record in the first ODI between Bangladesh and England which is currently in progress at Mirpur. He dismissed the England opener Jason Roy on a  score of 41 to achieve this milestone.

He is now second in the list after the great Muttiah Muralitharan. Murali has a total of 154 wickets to his name at home. Shakib is still 20 wickets away to achieve this record. Looking at his current form, there are high chances of him being breaking this record soon.

This is a great achievement for a player representing Bangladesh as the country has never been known for achieving records or breaking milestones but now this is the team is making progress at quite a fast rate. They are on the way of removing the minnows tag from their shirt and we may soon see this team doing this.

Shakib Al Hasan made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in the year 2006. His first ODI wicket was Elton Chigumbura. He uprooted Chigumbura’s stumps to add the first wicket to his tally. Currently, Shakib is the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in all formats of the game.
