Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that young defender Hector Bellerin will sign a new contract at the club that would see him at the club for the long-term future.
The 21-year old has been speculated to move away from Gunners over the past few weeks as he is linked with a move to his former club Barcelona and Manchester City. However, the 66-year old has ensured the fans that the Spaniard would stay at the club as the club are keen to extend his contract.
‘He has nearly three years to go, we always try to get the players to the [financial] level where we think they deserve to be,’ he said.
‘We will try to extend his contract, his long-term future is here. He has been absolutely fantastic. His first game was a nightmare. The season before he was at Watford where he didn’t play.
‘His progress has been brilliant because he has absolutely top mental strength. He is at a team that meets his needs and values. He came at a very young age. He is an Arsenal player.’
Hector Bellerin is one of the star players at Arsenal and a bright prospect for the club as he is one of the best defenders in Premier League as well as Europe as such tinder age. The player has moved to Arsenal in 2011 and has grown into a great defender under Arsene Wenger as Frenchman has given him plenty of opportunities as part of his development.
However, Barcelona official has recently admitted their interest in their youth prodigy as they look to force a move for Bellerin. However, the player still has three years left in his contract with Arsenal as the club are trying to keep hold of him to ward off interest from both Barcelona and Manchester City in the coming transfer windows.
