Video: Bangladesh players fail to behave themselves even after being criticised 1

There is absolutely no denying the fact that Bangladesh has made huge strides in limited-overs cricket in last few years. The Asian team has won series against Pakistan, South Africa and India in the last couple of years.

While the cricket fraternity around the world is really happy to see a team making such a phenomenal progress but their meteoric rise has been overshadowed by their poor attitude on the field. Their habit of humiliating the opponent after taking a wicket, giving poor send-offs to batsmen or winning a match has arguably made them the most disliked team in the world.

Their poor attitude was once again on full display during their recently concluded three-match One-Day International series against England. During the second match of the series, the Bangladeshi players’ celebration after dismissing England skipper Jos Buttler was severely criticised. The incident happened when Buttler was given out leg-before through a review after the umpire had turned down Taskin Ahmed’s leg-before appeal. After the Bangladeshi players got to know that that the decision would be reversed, they started celebrating and some of them turned towards Buttler and said few words to the English batsman. At that point, Buttler started to move towards the celebrating Bangladesh players only to be stopped by the umpires. What was even shocking was the fact that even Mashrafe Mortaza, Bangladesh skipper was involved in the incident. Mortaza and Rahman were later fined for their behaviour.

After such an ugly incident, it was expected that the Bangladeshi players will behave themselves in the next match but it was not the case. There were a couple of incidents which saw the Bangladeshi players celebrating in an ungentlemanly manner. The first one happened when Shafiul Islam dismissed Ben Duckett and the second one occurred when Mushfiqur Rahim made a poor gesture after Jos Buttler was bowled by Mortaza. Well, England showed the maturity and kept their calm to chase down the 278-run target and won the series 2-1.
