Good News: Both United and Liverpool receive huge injury boost ahead of thrilling encounter 1

Ahead of a mouthwatering encounter in Premier League on Monday night, fans of both Manchester United and Liverpool can breathe a sigh of relief as there has been a significant boost for both sides in the injury department for what is believed to be a crucial game in terms of the title race this season.

There had been concerns in the United camp that Luke Shaw and Henrikh Mkhitaryan would miss out following respective niggling injuries, but the duo looks set to be in contention after making progress in their attempts to make a return.

Shaw, who has not featured for Manchester United since the 3-1 loss to Watford on September 18, is widely regarded as one of English football’s brightest young talents.

Similarly, Mkhitaryan, a summer signing from Borussia Dortmund, has not featured for Jose Mourinho’s side since September 10.

However, both players look ready to serve for Mourinho when needed, with the duo being passed fit for Monday night’s game.

Liverpool has also been boosted by the increased likelihood that Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana will be available to Jürgen Klopp.

Wijnaldum suffered an injury whilst on international duty with the Netherlands, casting concerns that the influential midfielder would miss his first clash against United in a Reds shirt.

Lallana did not participate in internationals for England after picking up a problem in the 2-1 win over Swansea prior to the break, but Klopp is hopeful that he will have both stars in his mind for selection.

Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne have also both been concerns in the build-up to the match but have been described as being ‘in the race’ to be in contention.

Meanwhile, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho were both in South America playing for Brazil, and whilst their manager admitted that it was far from ideal situation, believed that their participation on Monday will accelerate recovery.

“Of course it’s a big impact. A lot of things can happen. I’ve made no decision until now. They did what they had to do.

“Roberto could have made a little bit more in the last session, Phil played nearly two complete games and had a long flight. It’s a long trip, right?

“Each day, each hour helps.”
