On Lahli track, where each and every batsman were struggling, Yuvraj Singh emerged as a hero and scored a 177 in the first innings followed by a half-century in the second innings. Riding on his great knock, Punjab went on to post a huge total 378 in the first innings. Following it, Madhya Pradesh scored a total of 247 which was quite low on their side as a lead of more than 100 was going to be very crucial on this track.
Though Punjab could just 175 in next innings but the lead which they got in the first innings worked for them and they set a target of 307 runs in front of M.P. which they could not chase as they were bundled out on a total of 180.
Yuvraj Singh showed his colours on the first Day’s play when he scored a century on just 149 deliveries. He ended the day with a total of 164* in his account, though he could not reach double century the next day but scored crucial 177 in the first innings. Chasing this target was never going to be easy for M.P. but still they showed some courage and scored 247 in the first innings, avoiding the follow-on at least.
In the second innings, M.P. bowlers did the best performance of the day dismissing Punjab on a paltry of 175 but that lead of over 100 runs worked in favour of Punjab and at the end, M.P. was asked to chase a target of 307. Chasing this target was never going to easy for them and as expected, they could just score 180 runs in the second innings thus losing the game by a margin of 126 runs.
Punjab churned out a total of 6 point fo this game whereas M.P. went pointless. Yuvraj Singh was awarded Man of the Match award for his great knock in both the innings.
