Pakistan’s leg-spinner Yasir Shah achieved another milestone in his career as he has now become the fastest bowler to claim 100 wickets in Test cricket. Yasir achieved this record in the historic day/night pink ball Test against West Indie being played at Dubai. In total, he claimed five wickets in the second innings of the game. ML Cumins, the West Indies fast bowler fell prey to him in form of Yasir’s fifth wicket and thus Yasir became the fastest Asian and second fastest overall to achieve record of 100 wickets in Test cricket.
The right arm leg spinner have been an asset for Pakistan team right from his debut. He was the key behind Pakistan success in their recent tour to England. He also claimed a ten-wicket haul at Lords, he saw a surge in his ICC rankings soon after that as he climbed to number 1 spot thus becoming the first leg spin bowler to attain the number 1 spot.
Though Yasir is second in this list but he his the fastest among each and every bowler to claim 100 wickets in Test cricket as he has achieved this record in just a period of 1 year and 357 days, which is quite near to 2 years whereas the CV Grimmett stands second in terms of time consumed by a bowler to achieve this record. Grimmett took a period of 5 years and 323 days to achieve this record.
This shows the Yasir’s rise to prominence in a short period of time and one thing is to be noted that he is yet to play a Test match at his home. We can spot a star in him right from here and he may go on to eclipse the record of Murali and Warne if he continues to bowl like this.
