It has been a frustrating start to the season for Olivier Giroud.
Despite Arsenal being level on points with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League, Giroud has found his playing time at the Emirates extremely limited.
In fact, out of the Gunners’ eight league matches so far this campaign, Giroud has been on the pitch for just 51 minutes.
Nevertheless, the French striker appeared in high spirits during a Q&A video alongside compatriot Laurent Koscielny, which was posted on Arsenal’s official Youtube account on Monday night.
The two Arsenal stars posed various quirky questions to each other but one of Giroud’s responses really caught our attention.
Koscielny asked: “How long would you last against Conor McGregor in a fight?”
Giroud only needs to look the Irishman’s first round knockout of Jose Aldo last year to see just how frightening that prospect can be.
But the Arsenal striker offered a very brave response (sort of).
He initially said: “Maybe about 10 seconds,” as you can see by skipping to roughly one minute into the video below.
“I’ve never been in a cage to fight in UFC but it would be nice to try, so McGregor, whenever you want… OK, I’m dead!” Giroud added.
The 30-year-old is often teased on social media for his appearance – mainly by jealous men – but you would be surprised to see him risk ruining his good looks by facing off with the current UFC featherweight champion.
However, if McGregor is looking for a human punchbag in preparation for his upcoming fight against Eddie Alvarez, you heard what Giroud said, “Whenever”.
The video also features a comical impression of Elvis Presley from Giroud, who clearly also fancies himself as a bit of a singer.
While that might be an interest he takes more seriously after football, his more immediate concern will be trying to force his way back into Arsene Wenger’s plans.
Alexis Sanchez’s fine form of late hasn’t helped Giroud’s cause but he will need to make an impact at every possible opportunity to prove his worth to the Arsenal boss.
