Yesterday, Najam Sethi, the PSL chairman made an important announcement as he said that the final of Pakistan Super League will be played in Lahore, Pakistan. He made this announcement during the PSL draft which happened Yesterday in Dubai. A total of 414 players were named in the draft for the second edition of Pakistan Super League.
“International players know what we can do; most of them are ready to come to Pakistan and play, it will be a fly-in, fly-out plan, and the government has promised to give full security to the players. We are convinced that the final will happen in Lahore,” said Najam Sethi.
Pakistan has been an isolated state since the year 2009 when a group of terrorist launched an attack on Sri Lanka team bus which was playing a Test match in Pakistan. Since then, no country other than Zimbabwe has toured Pakistan. They were provided President level security with red-lighted bulb cars guiding the team 24/7. However, ICC did not send its matches officials for the series.
Pakistan has not been able to convince any other team from then.
Though Najam Sethi has announced that PSL final will be played in Pakistan but he is yet to take consent of the players participating in PSL as it is a league consisting of players from many countries and not just Pakistan. Despite an announcement from him, we may see many of players being hesitant to travel the country due to increase in terrorism issues in that country.
PSL will be played in U.A.E. nex year in the month of February and March with final to be played in Lahore.
The first edition of PSL was played in U.A.E. which was a great success for Pakistan cricket board as they earned a profit of $2.6 Million from that league.
