Chelsea suffer huge injury blow: Star player set to miss Manchester United clash after injuring ankle 1

Just before the important clash against Manchester United, Chelsea have suffered a huge injury blow as their star defender John Terry has suffered another ankle injury that is expected to keep him out of the match on Sunday.

According to reports in English news outlet The Times, the veteran defender was unable to train yesterday after sustaining his second ankle injury of the season and is a major doubt for the clash against United at Stamford Bridge. The daily reported that the Chelsea captain will be assessed by Chelsea’s medical staff, but even if he is fit to train he is unlikely to feature for the Blues on Sunday.

The former England international has been out of action since last month after injuring his ankle in the 2-2 draw against Swansea City. He was initially expected to remain on the sidelines for only 10 days but failed to recover in time and had to miss big games against Liverpool and Arsenal. However, he looked all set to make a comeback after returning to the training ground before the game against Hull City last week but the latest setback has diminished any chance of returning to action soon.

Terry’s absence means Antonio Conte will have to persist with out of form centre-back Gary Cahill for the crunch game. Pressure would mount on Antonio Conte if he fails to win this game. The Italian tactician has already lost against Liverpool and Arsenal and another defeat against a big team will make the matters worse for him. His team has returned to winning ways after winning two games in a row and will be looking to extend the run by defeating the Red Devils who are still struggling to hit the top gear in the league.
