AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli has confirmed that he happy to stay with his current club amid Chelsea links.
The 21-year old is one of the major targets for manager Antonio Conte who is looking to make his defense strong. The Blues have made a bid for the Italian in the summer but AC Milan have decided to keep hold of their player.
However, despite the bid getting rejected, Chelsea manager Conte is still interested in the talented central defender as the manager looks for potential targets across Europe.
The Blues have been linked with a host of central defenders across Europe but Conte has failed to land his desired target as they finally signed David Luiz on the deadline day to increase the depth of their central defense.
Earlier reports suggest that Chelsea have not given up on their pursuit to sign Romagnoli as Conte has requested Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to make a fresh appraoch to sign the young Italian defender in January.
However, the defender has put the rumors to bed as he confirms he is happy with his current club and he is no mood to push for a transfer to Stamford Bridge.
“I’m happy here, I’m happy and I hope to stay in Italy,” Romagnoli told Premium Sport.
Chelsea are looking to overcome their defensive problems with Contr’s new system but the manager is keen to add more depth to his central defense as he is keen to sign a world class defender in the coming days.
Despite Romagnoli’s denial of moving away, Conte could still force a move for the player as the Blues are desperate for a quality centre back as John Terry is in his final days as a player and the club will need to look out for potential replacements for the legendary defender.
