The Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) has invited the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to witness the first Test match between India and England which is scheduled to be played at this stadium from November 9. This will be the first ever Test match played on this ground, and to mark this occasion, the SCA president, Niranjan Shah, has invited PM Narendra Modi to witness the Test match “The SCA is going to host it’s first-ever Test match next month and it’s indeed a matter of pride for all cricket lovers of this region,” SCA’s media manager Himanshu Shah told PTI.
“The SCA and it’s governing body have cordially invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the first Test match,” added Shah

PM Modi, also the former C.M. of Gujarat has a keen interest in cricket as he was the president of Gujarat Cricket Association for many years. He also witnessed the semi-final clash between India and Pakistan at Mohali year 2011.

“It has been SCA’s profound honour that Modiji has laid the foundation stone of the stadium on June 19, 2006, when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. He has also inaugurated it on January 5, 2013,

“Now Modiji has become the Prime Minister and his presence will be an inspiring force for all of us at the SCA,” the official added.

The state board is still waiting for a reply from State Bard . In addition that, they have also invited the Chief minister of the state Vijay Rupani and other state ministers as well. We may also see te B.JP. president Amit Shah marking his presence at the event. We also saw him during the second ODI between India and New Zealand at Feroz Shah Kotla.

The state board has also invited the former cricketers of the state such as Salim Durani, Dilip Doshi, Karsan Ghavri, Yajuvendra Singh and Ajay Jadeja. In addition to that, we will also see Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja being given some award of reward as a mark of respect. Both these players plays for Saurashtra in domestic cricket.
