India thrashed China by 9-0 in their fourth group match of the Asian Champions trophy played at Kuntan, Malaysia. It was a dominating display by the Indian team who outplayed China in all departments. In today’s match P Sreejesh was not playing because of an ankle sprain
In the first quarter, the Indian team started on a positive note. The Chinese team entered the circle of India but could not get anything. In the 9th minute, Akashdeep scored from reverse flick to give India 1-0 lead. The China forward tried their best but Indian defense was on alert. At the end of first quarter, India led 1-0.
The second quarter began on a good note with Affan Yusuf scoring a goal from a pass by Uthappa to give India a 2-0 lead. The Indian team continued their domination as Jasjit Singh Kular scored from a rebound to help India to take a 3-0 lead. In the 10th minute, India earned a penalty corner and Rupinder scored from drag flick to make it 4-0 in favor of India. At the end of 2nd quarter, India led 4-0.
In the third quarter, India scored in the 4thminute as a pass from Uthappa and a great shot by Nikkin gave India 5-0 lead. In the 6th minute, China earned their first penalty corner of the match but was well saved by Chikte. The next minute India counter attacks and Lalit scores a goal to give India 6-0 lead. Two minutes later Akashdeep scores inside the D to make it 7-0 for India and in the 11th minute Affan scores his second goal to give India 8-0 lead. At the end of 3rd quarter, India led 8-0.
In the fourth quarter, India earned a penalty corner but could not convert chance into a goal. In the 6th minute, Indian Jasjit Singh Kular scores his second goal to take the score to 9-0. It was a dominating display by the Indian team. India won the match by 9-0.
India will play Malaysia in their last group match tomorrow.
